Laicor's roots trace back to 1996, when our founder and president, Antero (Andy) Laitila incorporated a sheet metal shop in Peterborough, Ontario. Fabricating mostly custom stainless steel components for various companies, Laicor established a reputation amongst its clientele for extremely high quality work, combined with fast turnaround times. In 1999, Laicor entered the checkout market with its sleek, contemporary styled checkout counters. Since then, the company has grown steadily increasing its loyal customer base one satisfied customer at a time.

Prior to founding Laicor, Andy spent 14 years as president of a large fixture manufacturing company. During his time from 1979 to 1994, the company grew from a start-up operation, to become one of North America's largest checkout manufacturers. Concepts Andy implemented that were pivotal to their success were the effective use of emerging computer technology, product customization, and the Japanese perfected philosophy of just-in-time manufacturing. Although used extensively in modern manufacturing environments, these concepts were all in their infancy back in the early 80's.
